This week was a grind. Finished up learning the basics of fire alarm systems in the NEC at my night classes this week. I believe I have gained solid foundational knowledge on that part of the NEC in general. As for that part of the trade, there seems to be a lot involved, which opens the door for me to learn more and get involved. Even at the residential level, I will be dealing with fire alarm system installations, especially in accordance with the NFPA 72 code book here in Massachusetts. Speaking of which, NFPA Link saved me by giving me access to every edition of NFPA 70 and 72 books. I needed it for studying this week. NFPA 72 for signaling circuits was a lot to take in at first, and it's a constantly changing book with many sections prepped for future additions, but I've added it into my rotation of books to take a look through and answer some practice questions every day. You're better off being aware of it by skimming thoroughly, bold-scanning, or asking simple questions through TradeHog to challenge yourself to OPEN THE BOOK and READ, to find an answer or even argue a better answer with the tool. AI helps a lot with just keeping everything fresh in my mind and knowing how to find what I need.
