SLIDE 1 (HOOK / COVER) ⚡ NEC Quick Hit: Tower Grounding & Permitted Wiring Methods (Part 4) ⚡
What wiring methods are required inside buildings for DC turbine output circuits? How do you prevent galvanic corrosion on tower anchors? Let's finish Article 694! 👇
Metal Enclosures & Extra-Hard Usage:
DC Inside Buildings: DC turbine output circuits inside a building must be enclosed in metal raceways, metal enclosures, or run in Type MC metal-clad cable from the building entry point to the first readily accessible disconnect.
Flexible Cords: Used for moving parts or ready removal, they must be extra-hard usage, water-resistant, and sunlight-resistant "W" type cords.
Matching Ground Rod Metals:
Grounding Electrodes: Towers must be connected to a grounding electrode system. Where installed near galvanized foundation components, galvanized grounding electrodes must be used to prevent destructive copper-on-steel electrolytic corrosion!
💡 Apprentice Pro-Tip: Don't drive standard copper ground rods right next to galvanized tower anchor bolts in wet soil. The galvanic reaction will eat away the anchor steel in no time—match your metals to protect the structural integrity of the tower!
