SLIDE 1 (HOOK / COVER) ⚡ NEC Quick Hit: GFCI, SPGFCI & Interactive Systems (Part 4) ⚡
When does a TRU circuit require Special Purpose GFCI protection? How do interactive systems tie into truck stops? Let's finish Article 626! 👇
Keeping Drivers Safe:
Standard GFCI: All 20A cab receptacle outlets must be provided with standard Class A ground-fault circuit-interrupter (GFCI) protection.
Special Purpose GFCI (SPGFCI): TRU receptacles supplied by branch circuits rated more than 150 volts to ground, 100 amperes or less require SPGFCI personnel protection (Note: This requirement becomes effective January 1, 2029).
Vehicle-to-Grid and Standby Power:
Listed for Purpose: Systems intended to interconnect refrigerated trucks or trailers to serve as optional standby sources or bidirectional power feeds must be listed and comply with Article 702 or 705.
Backfeed Prevention: Means must prevent energy from being back-fed into the parking space wiring upon loss of utility power.
💡 Apprentice Pro-Tip: Every truck parking space supply disconnect must be lockable open in accordance with Section 110.25, ensuring absolute safety for service personnel working on pedestals or refrigerated units!
