SLIDE 1 (HOOK / COVER) ⚡ NEC Quick Hit: Panel Markings & Service Equipment (Part 4) ⚡
Service-rated panel requirements, mandatory exterior markings, voltage ratings, and wiring diagrams—let's finish Article 409! 👇
SLIDE 2 (SERVICE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS)Feeding Direct from the Service:
Service Suitability: When used as service equipment, each industrial control panel must be explicitly marked as suitable for use as service equipment.
Main Bonding Jumper: Where a grounded conductor is provided, the panel must include a main bonding jumper sized per Section 250.28(D) to connect the grounded conductor to the equipment ground bus.
SLIDE 3 (MANDATORY PERMANENT MARKINGS)Required Exterior and Interior Labels:
Exterior Markings: The outside of the enclosure must permanently display the supply voltage, phase, frequency, full-load current, and the panel's Short-Circuit Current Rating (SCCR).
Manufacturer & Diagrams: The manufacturer's name/trademark and an electrical wiring diagram (or reference ID) must be clearly visible inside or outside the enclosure.
SLIDE 4 (WRAP-UP) 💡 Apprentice Pro-Tip:
Always verify that your industrial control panel's electrical wiring diagram is securely attached inside the enclosure before leaving the site—maintenance technicians rely on those prints for safe troubleshooting!
