JoshTheSparky.com is intended to be a place where electricians, apprentices, students, educators, and others interested in electricity can learn, ask questions, share experiences, and contribute to the electrical community.
These Community & User Submission Guidelines explain the expectations for participating in the JoshTheSparky.com community and submitting content.
These guidelines work alongside the JoshTheSparky.com Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and other applicable JoshTheSparky.com policies.
1. Community Participation
Participation in the JoshTheSparky.com community is voluntary.
Community participation may include:
Asking questions.
Providing answers.
Leaving comments.
Sharing experiences.
Suggesting topics.
Submitting educational material.
Sharing project information.
Participating in discussions.
Submitting content for possible publication.
Participating in Featured Sparky opportunities.
You do not need to financially support JoshTheSparky.com to participate in the general community.
2. Community Standards
We encourage respectful, useful, and educational discussion.
Community members should:
Treat others with respect.
Keep discussions reasonably relevant to the electrical community.
Share information honestly.
Identify personal experience as personal experience.
Avoid intentionally misleading information.
Respect differences in experience, training, opinions, and learning levels.
Encourage safe electrical practices.
Respect intellectual property and the rights of others.
Disagreement is allowed.
Constructive disagreement and discussion are part of learning.
Harassment, threats, intimidation, personal attacks, or intentionally harmful behavior are not acceptable.
3. Electrical Information and Advice
Electrical discussions may involve subjects where incorrect information can result in serious injury, property damage, or death.
Users should not rely solely on comments, community submissions, or discussions when performing electrical work.
Information shared by community members represents the views or experiences of those individuals unless specifically identified as JoshTheSparky.com content.
Users should verify electrical information using appropriate current sources, including applicable codes, regulations, manufacturer instructions, qualified professionals, and local authorities.
JoshTheSparky.com may remove or correct information that we reasonably believe could create a significant safety risk.
4. Content You Submit
You may voluntarily submit material to JoshTheSparky.com, including:
Questions.
Comments.
Suggestions.
Stories.
Photos.
Videos.
Audio.
Graphics.
Project information.
Educational material.
Reviews or opinions.
Links.
Other community contributions.
You should only submit content that you have the right to share.
Do not submit confidential, proprietary, private, or legally protected information belonging to another person, employer, customer, contractor, company, or organization.
5. Your Responsibility for Submitted Content
You are responsible for the content you submit.
By submitting content, you represent that, to the best of your knowledge:
You have the right to submit the material.
Your submission does not knowingly violate another person's rights.
Your submission does not intentionally contain false or misleading information.
You have obtained any permissions reasonably necessary to share material belonging to others.
You have not included unnecessary private or confidential information.
You should remove or conceal sensitive information before submitting photographs, screenshots, documents, or other material.
6. Personal and Private Information
Please do not submit unnecessary personal information about yourself or others.
Examples include:
Home addresses.
Personal telephone numbers.
Passwords.
Account credentials.
Financial account information.
Government identification numbers.
Private customer information.
Private employee information.
Confidential business information.
Private communications.
JoshTheSparky.com may remove or redact information that appears to contain unnecessary personal or confidential information.
Submitting information does not guarantee that JoshTheSparky.com will publish it.
7. Photos, Videos, Audio, and Other Media
If you submit a photograph, video, audio recording, screenshot, graphic, or other media, you should have the necessary rights or permissions to submit it.
If other identifiable people appear in your submission, you should obtain appropriate permission before submitting the material for publication where reasonably necessary.
Do not submit images or recordings of people who reasonably expect privacy without appropriate authorization.
Submitting media does not automatically mean that JoshTheSparky.com will publish it.
Additional terms may apply to Featured Sparky submissions and other specifically requested media.
8. Permission to Review and Use Submissions
When you voluntarily submit content to JoshTheSparky.com for possible publication, you understand that JoshTheSparky.com may review the submission and determine whether it is appropriate for publication.
Where publication or reuse is authorized under the applicable submission terms, JoshTheSparky.com may:
Publish the submission.
Display the submission on JoshTheSparky.com.
Share the submission through JoshTheSparky.com social media channels.
Include the submission in educational or community content.
Edit the submission for clarity, formatting, length, spelling, grammar, or presentation.
Remove unnecessary personal or confidential information.
Organize the submission with other community contributions.
Where a separate release or permission is required, JoshTheSparky.com may request additional authorization before publication.
9. Editing User Submissions
JoshTheSparky.com may make reasonable editorial changes to submitted material when permitted.
Changes may include:
Correcting spelling or grammar.
Shortening content.
Formatting content.
Removing repetition.
Clarifying presentation.
Removing private information.
Adjusting material for a particular platform.
JoshTheSparky.com will not intentionally edit a submission in a manner designed to falsely attribute a statement or materially misrepresent the contributor's intended meaning.
10. Publication Is Not Guaranteed
Submitting content does not guarantee that JoshTheSparky.com will:
Publish it.
Respond to it.
Feature it.
Promote it.
Contact the submitter.
Use it in a particular format.
JoshTheSparky.com may decline, postpone, edit, or remove submitted content at its discretion.
11. Content That May Be Removed
JoshTheSparky.com may remove or decline to publish content that we reasonably believe:
Contains harassment or threats.
Contains hate or targeted abuse.
Contains spam.
Is intentionally deceptive or misleading.
Contains malicious links or harmful material.
Violates another person's privacy.
Contains confidential information.
Violates copyright or other intellectual property rights.
Encourages dangerous or unlawful conduct.
Contains unsafe electrical information that could reasonably create a serious risk.
Is unrelated to the purpose of the community.
Is primarily promotional or commercial without appropriate disclosure.
Impersonates another person or organization.
Violates the Terms of Service or another JoshTheSparky.com policy.
Removal of content does not necessarily mean that JoshTheSparky.com has determined that every statement within the content is false or unlawful.
12. Commercial and Promotional Submissions
Community submissions should not be used to disguise advertising or commercial promotion.
If a submission involves:
Sponsorship.
Affiliate relationships.
Paid promotion.
Free or discounted products.
Business relationships.
Other material commercial relationships.
the applicable relationship should be disclosed.
JoshTheSparky.com may request additional information or decline promotional submissions that do not meet its transparency standards.

13. Reviews and Opinions
Community members may share their opinions and experiences.
Opinions should be presented honestly and should not knowingly misrepresent personal experience.
A community member should not claim to have personally used a product, service, tool, or platform if they have not.
Likewise, JoshTheSparky.com will not intentionally present a user's opinion as an independent JoshTheSparky.com opinion.
Where applicable, commercial relationships should be disclosed.
14. Copyright and Other Intellectual Property
Do not submit copyrighted material belonging to another person or organization unless you have permission or another lawful basis to share it.
This includes:
Articles.
Books.
Photographs.
Videos.
Graphics.
Course materials.
Paid educational materials.
Screenshots.
Documents.
Software.
Other protected content.
JoshTheSparky.com may remove material when a legitimate copyright or intellectual-property concern is identified.

15. No Confidential Jobsite Information
Electrical work often involves customers, employers, contractors, businesses, and private properties.
Do not submit:
Customer names or information.
Private jobsite addresses.
Confidential plans.
Proprietary drawings.
Security information.
Access codes.
Private company documents.
Confidential employer information.
When sharing jobsite photographs or stories, remove information that should not be publicly disclosed.
16. Community Moderation
JoshTheSparky.com may moderate community content to maintain a useful, safe, and respectful environment.
Moderation may include:
Removing content.
Editing or redacting content.
Limiting visibility.
Declining publication.
Closing discussions.
Blocking or restricting participation where appropriate.
JoshTheSparky.com does not guarantee that all inappropriate content will be identified or removed immediately.
17. No Obligation to Monitor Everything
JoshTheSparky.com may provide community features but does not guarantee that every comment, submission, discussion, link, recommendation, or user contribution will be reviewed before publication.
The presence of user-generated content does not mean that JoshTheSparky.com has verified or endorsed it.
18. Featured Sparkys
The Featured Sparky program is a separate community feature designed to highlight members of the electrical community.
Featured Sparky submissions may require additional permission concerning:
Publication.
Photography.
Video.
Audio.
Personal stories.
Name and professional information.
Social media links.
Promotional use.
Specific Featured Sparky submissions are governed by the Featured Sparky Submission & Release Terms where applicable.
19. Media Reposting and Sharing
Submitting content to JoshTheSparky.com does not automatically give JoshTheSparky.com permission to use that content in every possible manner.
Where additional permission is required, JoshTheSparky.com may request it.
The Media Repost & Sharing Policy provides additional information regarding the reposting and sharing of content.
20. No Financial Requirement for Participation
Participation in the JoshTheSparky.com community does not require financial support.
Users are not required to:
Purchase products.
Use affiliate links.
Make tips.
Become sponsors.
Join paid memberships.
Pay recurring fees.
Voluntary financial support is addressed separately in the Support Disclosure.
21. Changes to These Guidelines
JoshTheSparky.com may update these Community & User Submission Guidelines as community features and submission methods develop.
Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
