SLIDE 1 (HOOK / COVER) ⚡ NEC Quick Hit: Cord-Connected Workstations & Receptacle Caps (Part 4) ⚡
How many receptacles can you put on an interconnected cubicle run? Can you use multiwire branch circuits? Let's finish Article 605! 👇
SLIDE 2 (THE 30-FOOT RULE & CORD LIMITS) Sizing Connected Cubicle Runs:
Group Length Cap: Interconnected individual office furnishings assembled cannot exceed 30 feet (9.0 m) when powered by a single supply cord.
Supply Cord: Extra-hard usage type, min 12 AWG, max 2 feet (600 mm) long, plugged into a dedicated separate circuit located within 12 inches (300 mm) of the furniture.
SLIDE 3 (RECEPTACLE CAPS & MULTIWIRE BAN) Maximizing Outlets Safely:
Receptacle Limit: An interconnected group shall not contain more than 13 15-ampere, 125-volt receptacles (where a duplex counts as one).
No Multiwire Circuits: Multiwire branch circuits are strictly prohibited in cord-connected office furnishings!
SLIDE 4 (WRAP-UP) 💡 Apprentice Pro-Tip:
Always verify the total receptacle count across an interconnected cubicle row before signing off on a modular power layout. Crossing that 13-receptacle threshold or introducing a multiwire circuit will fail inspection!
