⚡ NEC Quick Hit: Extraction Equipment & Gas Detectors (Part 4) ⚡
How do gas detection systems alter booth equipment ratings? What are the marking rules for extraction machinery? Let's finish Article 512! 👇
Equipment Installation Standards:
Distinct Rooms: Listed cannabis extraction equipment and systems must be installed in a distinct room or area.
Gas Detection Exception: Where cannabis oil booths are equipped with an approved gas detection system per Section 500.7(K) or 505.8(I), equipment listed for Class I, Division 2 or Zone 2 is permitted inside the booth.
Preventing Arc Ignition:
Overhead Arcing Gear: Equipment installed above classified locations that could produce arcs or sparks (such as switches, receptacles, and motors) must be totally enclosed to prevent hot particles from escaping.
Nameplate Markings: Preparatory, extraction, and post-processing equipment must feature permanent markings indicating the exact hazardous classification for which they are approved.
💡 Apprentice Pro-Tip: Integrating a certified gas detection system into your extraction booth can provide greater equipment installation flexibility, but it requires strict interlocks and calibration documentation!
