SLIDE 1 — IT GETS HARDER
What happens when your conduit has:
#12
#10
#8
#6
?
You can't just grab a single “maximum wires” number.
👀
NOW WE CALCULATE AREA.
SLIDE 2 — ADD EACH AREA
Example:
#12 = 0.0133
#10 = 0.0211
#8 = 0.0366
#6 = 0.0507
Add them:
0.0133 + 0.0211 + 0.0366 + 0.0507
= 0.1217 in²
SLIDE 3 — COMPARE TO THE RACEWAY
If your permitted raceway area is:
0.122 in²
Your conductor area is:
0.1217 in²
😮💨
0.1217 < 0.122
✅ PASS
But don't round early!
SLIDE 4 — EXAM MINDSET
🧠 MIXED CONDUCTORS?
Don't hunt for a magic wire-count answer.
LOOK UP → CALCULATE → ADD → COMPARE → VERIFY
That's how you solve the problem.
