SLIDE 1 (HOOK / COVER) ⚡ NEC Quick Hit: Hazard Labels, Capacitors & RF Grounding (Part 4) ⚡
What warning signs must be posted on high-voltage heating cabinets? How do you control high-frequency stray radio currents? Let's finish Article 665! 👇
SLIDE 2 (HIGH-VOLTAGE WARNING LABELS & CAPACITORS) Marking Hazards & Pressure Switches:
Mandatory Signage: Equipment containing over 150V must display plainly visible labels reading:
👉 "DANGER — HIGH VOLTAGE — KEEP OUT"
Capacitor Protection: High-frequency capacitors require internal pressure switches to detect rapid case pressure buildup from high-resistance internal faults before case rupture occurs.
SLIDE 3 (RF GROUNDING & COPPER MESH BASES) Taming High-Frequency Stray Currents:
Dielectric Shielding: Protective cages and interlock switches must guard dielectric heating applicators.
Copper/Aluminum Base Sheets: At radio frequencies (100–200 MHz), stray currents create dangerous voltage differences. Bonding is typically accomplished by placing all equipment units on a continuous copper or aluminum sheet flooring base to minimize high-frequency resistance!
SLIDE 4 (WRAP-UP) 💡 Apprentice Pro-Tip:
Standard wire-type grounding isn't always enough at radio frequencies due to high inductive reactance. Utilizing a solid copper ground mesh or sheet under dielectric heaters keeps RF potential safely referenced to earth!
