SLIDE 1 (HOOK / COVER) ⚡ NEC Quick Hit: Receptacles, Ventilation & GFCI Rules (Part 3) ⚡
Are GFCIs mandatory for all ESV chargers? When does indoor battery charging require mechanical ventilation? Let's check out Part III of Article 624! 👇
SLIDE 2 (MANDATORY GFCI & RECEPTACLE TYPES) Protection in Damp and Wet Locations:
Universal GFCI Mandate: All receptacles installed for the connection of ESVSE require personnel ground-fault circuit-interrupter (GFCI) protection.
Connection Methods: Equipment can be portable (using specific nonlocking 15A, 20A, 30A, or 50A grounding receptacles), fastened-in-place, or permanently wired.
SLIDE 3 (INDOOR CHARGING VENTILATION) Clearing Hydrogen Gas:
When Required: Where equipment is listed for charging ESVs that require indoor ventilation, permanently installed supply and exhaust mechanical ventilation venting directly outdoors must be provided and electrically interlocked with the supply circuit.
SLIDE 4 (WRAP-UP) 💡 Apprentice Pro-Tip:
Receptacles installed in wet locations for vehicle charging must have weatherproof enclosures with extra-duty outlet box hoods that remain weatherproof even with the attachment plug inserted or removed!
