⚡ A Power Control System (PCS) is a specialized form of Energy Management System designed to prevent electrical overload conditions.
Unlike basic EMS monitoring, a PCS continuously evaluates system loading and adjusts controlled equipment in real time.
A PCS must monitor:

✔ Conductors
✔ Power sources
✔ Distribution equipment

NEC Article 130 requires PCS systems to operate safely under all conditions, including failure scenarios.
If a PCS malfunctions, it must automatically transition to a safe operating state that prevents overload conditions.
A PCS must NOT allow a condition where failure results in upstream overcurrent protective devices tripping due to uncontrolled load conditions.
