⚡ Some Power Control Systems don’t just monitor controlled loads.
They monitor:
🟢 Controlled Loads
🔵 Noncontrolled Loads
When a PCS is watching the entire system, the NEC does NOT allow the same simplification used in controlled-only systems.
⚡ CODE CONNECTION
When a PCS monitors BOTH controlled and non-controlled loads:
❌ You do NOT use the PCS control setting
Instead:
⚡ The controlled loads are calculated using their MINIMUM OPERATING CURRENT
⚡ Noncontrolled loads are still calculated using standard NEC Article 120 methods
This ensures the calculation reflects real operating conditions while still protecting system limits.
🧠 WHY THIS MATTERS
Because the PCS is monitoring the entire system—not just selected loads—the NEC requires a more conservative approach.
The system is still controlled...
