⚡ SPARKY BREAKDOWN — NEC QUICK HIT
CONDUIT BODIES MISUSE — NEC 314.16 / 314.28 / 314.29

OPENING HOOK
LBs aren’t sneaky junction boxes. ⚠️
Treat them like one… and you’re asking for problems.
CORE IDEA
Conduit bodies are primarily for pulling and accessing conductors — not for stuffing splices wherever it’s convenient.
They have limited space, specific fill rules, and listing restrictions.
Not every LB/LR is approved for splicing, and even when it is, volume still matters.
CODE CONNECTION
NEC 314.16 applies when conductors are spliced or terminated inside — box fill rules still apply.
NEC 314.28 governs sizing for pull and junction boxes —
This is about proper bending and pulling space.
NEC 314.29 requires all conduit bodies to remain accessible.
And most important:
👉 Splicing is only allowed if the conduit body is listed for it.
FINAL TAKEAWAY
Pulling space ≠ for a free workspace. ⚠️
If it’s not listed for splices, too small, or buried — it’s wrong.
And if you overfill it, you’re creating heat and stress points. 🔥
Use conduit bodies for what they’re designed for —
Or install a proper junction box. ⚡
